The Museum System (TMS) is a popular CMS (collection management system) software choice for many museums and other GLAM institutions. TMS software knowledge and experience is able to travel with professionals as they change positions and institutions. Additionally, the eMuseum Network grants access for search and retrieval function across the databases of all participating institutions.

The TMS suite contains dedicated platforms and tools for all aspects of managing a museum collection. TMS Suite, in addition to TMS Collections and eMuseum, includes the software programs: TMS Conservation Studio, TMS Media Studio, TMS Audit Manager, and TMS Barcode Manager. The software in the suite may be purchased as a whole or individually.

The software is pricey and requires extensive hardware. Additionally, installation and maintenance for TMS requires more advanced technological skills. Therefore, TMS may not be the best fit for an institution with a smaller budget and staff. The Museum System is a smart choice for any institution (with an ample budget) looking for a comprehensive, sophisticated, and trusted CMS software.
